LAB TESTING

Labs are our most favorite diagnostic tool (well, except for listening to our patients). 

1. Even if you recently had labs done, the way we do labs are very unique; from the tests we order and timing of tests to the prep instructions!

2. It is important for us to see what your body is doing all at once. 

3. We ALWAYS start with the labs that your insurance is in network with. It is the most cost effective and is honestly, just as accurate as those fancy expensive Functional Medicine tests. No disrespect to them; there are a lot of great Functional  Medicine or special tests that cannot be run in the traditional labs!

4. Speaking of which, if you purchase any Functional Medicine labs, the lab kit gets sent to your home. You will follow the instructions on the kit to have your specimen collected. 

As mentioned above, we prefer to obtain a fresh, customized set up labs. If you have insurance, we always order from your in-network lab!  As a disclaimer, since each insurance plan is different, we encourage you to inquire about coverage for these services BEFORE you have them completed. There are a lot of factors to consider; such as: deductibles, plan limitations and exclusions and frequencies. We have no way to know this information as this is the responsibility of the  of the patient to know and understand their coverage.

While we NEVER require our patients to purchase Functional Medicine labs and we always start with traditional labs first, there are certain times where Functional Medicine (advanced labs) do come in handy. 

For example, there are some tests that your traditional labs will not have the ability to perform; yet, the specialty labs can. 

Yes, some are very affordable and others are not quite cheap. This is why we #1 give the option to patients and let them decide and #2 we arrange the order directly through the lab to the patient because many Functional Medicine doctors UP-CHARGE these tests; we do not.
